![]() ACTIVITY. • Activity checks occur at the beginning of every month. Characters that make this list more than two times in a row (or continuously meet the bare minimum - i.e. replying only once to a scene or claiming activity for the same ongoing scene) will be given a warning for not meeting activity requirements. • While we don't expect you to devote your life to this game, we do expect you to stay active in some form with each character you play. Doing so helps to keep other players who've built relationships with your characters active and encourages new players to join. This game is relatively laidback, but at the same time, players should be active in some form at least every few days. MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY. • Due to the nature of this game, players must be at least 18 to play. If you're uncomfortable with scenes of violence, sex, or any other mature content, this game probably isn't for you. • Adult content should ALWAYS be locked to Friends-Only. SEMI-ANONYMITY. • Cobo Mojo has no official contact list. This is to allow players the option of being anonymous in this game. While we do encourage everyone to plot together and have fun, giving out AIM names and email addresses isn't necessary for that. Only the Mods will know who everyone is, to keep voting fair and to enforce the character limit. • It isn't mandatory that players remain anonymous. You can share as much or as little info about yourself as you'd like. AUTHENTICITY. • We aren't striving for 100% authenticity here. That would be nearly impossible, and would also likely take far too much effort than any of us casual gamers are willing to put into our storyline. That said, try to keep things related to the genre and the time period. There certainly won't be cell phones and people strutting around saying "fo'shizzle, homeskillet!" That kind of stuff is best put to use in our FFAFs. DRAMA-FREE ZONE. • Do not control any character but your own. This includes moving them physically, dictating their responses to your actions, speaking for them, etc. This is called godmodding and is frowned upon in the RP world. • Keep OOC and IC separate. Drama between players should not be carried over into play, and should not be taken personally out of character. Sometimes RP drama is inevitable. Please try to handle things civilly. If the problem persists, contact a mod and we'll do our best to sort it out. CHARACTERS & PBS • As of right now, there will be a 6 character limit. Please only take on the number of characters you feel you can properly keep up with. We may allow players to take on additional roles past the limit of 6 later on. • Only original characters are permitted in this game. • PB challenges are not accepted. First come, first serve. • PBs must be actual people, not cartoons. And by actual people, we mean actors or musicians. Someone relatively famous. Not your brother or your mother or that old science teacher you had a crush on in high school. There won't be any bans on specific PBs right now, but this may change if we feel certain people look too modern. (That means those of you wanting to use Glee actors here, the WMHS logo can't be present in any icons.) • For those of you playing a character that is of a magical race, you may include race appropriate icons alongside those of your chosen PB. Were Creatures can use icons of the animal their character is bonded with, Fire Witches can have some flame icons, etc. Reapers will be allowed to have 2 PBs (the face the living see, and the face the character and other Reapers see). SHIPPING. • Character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players. Slash, het, and femme are all permitted. Certain relationships are going to have consequences, especially if made public. If your character is gay and others find out, other characters might not be okay with that. • Characters relationships and sexuality are your business. However, it becomes the mods’ business when said shipping takes precedence over the gamewide plot. If we see two or more players focused more on a romantic storyline and completely ignoring the main plot, we will say something and this will count as a warning. JOURNALS. • Likely this will be one of the few games where it doesn’t matter what you do with your character’s journal. You won’t be required to make IC journal entries or anything like that. Then again, you won’t be banned from doing it either. As long as you aren’t using it to spam everyone else’s friends-page, you’re welcome to do with it what you please, so long as it pertains to your character and this game. THREADS. • Both spelling and grammar are important, so looking over your post before hitting submit never hurts. If you use Firefox, there should be an inline spellchecker already installed on your browser. With this, your browser will point out misspelled words as you type, à la Microsoft Word. This should successfully prevent a majority of spelling issues. Everyone makes mistakes, though. • Threads and their responses should contain at least two solid paragraphs. This gives the player you're writing with something to work with when constructing their own responses. Skimpy responses lack depth and are very difficult to respond to. You don't have to write a novel in each response, but give your partner something to work with. • All initial threads should be behind an lj-cut. Thread headings can be formatted as players wish. If in doubt, you can use the following: Characters: [Who's involved this scene.] Setting: [Where and when (morning, evening, between what events of the day) the scene is occurring.] Summary: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, etc.] THE CODE • You don't have to include a rating/warnings for every thread. However, should your thread include any extremely sexual material or disturbing/violent content, include a warning. TAGS. • Please tag your own posts. The tagging system works as follows: RPG. Threads need to be tagged with the following: ♣ The character’s first and last names. (ex. john doe) ♣ The date, which will be indicated by the time update posts. (ex. 1873/MM/DD) ♣ Select the correct location tag from the already existing list in the Tags. ♣ The status of the post, whether !incomplete or !complete. Once a thread is complete, please change its status from !incomplete to !complete. Sample Tag: john doe, » location : caddo, 1873/05/29, !complete OOC. Tags include the following: ♣ ooc (thread requests, ooc fun, etc) ♣ hiatus (player announcements for hiatuses) ♣ intro (when new characters join the game) MOD-ONLY TAGS. ♣ activity check ♣ mod updates ♣ ffaf (free-for-all friday) HIATUSES & LEAVING. • Hiatuses are allowed for up to one week (7 days). A hiatus lasting for more than that (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with work/school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time while on hiatus, some exceptions may be made. • Hiatus notifications should be posted in the OOC community and tagged with hiatus. That way everyone knows you're on hiatus and for how long. If possible, please include the following information as a courtesy to other players: what day you're leaving, the date of your anticipated return, and what your character will be doing while you're gone. • If you're simply going to be around less than usual, just put a note in the OOC so everyone knows and don't bother with a hiatus. • Should you decide to leave or drop a character, please leave a message in the OOC community or on the mod's dropbox. |
